What causes primary spinal stenosis?

Primary stenosis is uncommon, occurring in only 9% of cases. Congenital malformations include the following:

  • Incomplete vertebral arch closure (spinal dysraphism);
  • Segmentation failure;
  • Achondroplasia;
  • Osteopetrosis.
