ACHILLES TENDON RUPTURE SYMPTOMS
Some people can have an Achilles tendon rupture and be free from any pain or other symptoms. This is not usually the case. Most of the time, Achilles tendon rupture symptoms and signs include:
- Swelling and pain near and around the heel; pain may be intense
- Difficulty walking, including the inability to point the foot down or push off the toes or foot of the leg that is injured
- The inability to bear weight on the toes of the leg that is injured is commonly a symptom of an Achilles tendon rupture
- An audible snapping or popping may be heard when an Achilles tendon rupture occurs
WHEN TO SEE A DOCTOR
It’s better to see a doctor as soon as possible if you feel a snap or a pop in your lower leg or heel. This is especially important if you have difficulty walking after you have felt this.
