Medications
There are prescribed medications that support managing ms symptoms, but in the case of DMTs, a patient should adjust to a schedule.
Diet and exercise
Regular exercise improves physical and mental health, so it is usually advised to MS patients to join a special yoga class or a swimming pool. It is also best to consult a doctor to create a multiple sclerosis physical exercise plan.
A well-balanced diet rich in nutrients and fiber improves overall health.
Multiple sclerosis diet should mainly consist of:
- a variety of fruits and vegetables;
- lean sources of protein, such as fish and skinless poultry;
- whole grains and other sources of fiber;
- nuts;
- legumes;
- low-fat dairy products;
- adequate amounts of water and other fluids.
It’s advised to limit or avoid:
- saturated fat;
- trans fat;
- red meats;
- foods and beverages high in sugar;
- foods high in sodium;
- highly processed foods.
In case of other medical conditions, consult a doctor to create a special multiple sclerosis diet and dietary supplements plan.
