How to Manage the Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis

There are prescribed medications that support managing ms symptoms, but in the case of DMTs, a patient should adjust to a schedule.

Diet and exercise

Regular exercise improves physical and mental health, so it is usually advised to MS patients to join a special yoga class or a swimming pool. It is also best to consult a doctor to create a multiple sclerosis physical exercise plan.

A well-balanced diet rich in nutrients and fiber improves overall health.

Multiple sclerosis diet should mainly consist of:

  • a variety of fruits and vegetables;
  • lean sources of protein, such as fish and skinless poultry;
  • whole grains and other sources of fiber;
  • nuts;
  • legumes;
  • low-fat dairy products;
  • adequate amounts of water and other fluids.

It’s advised to limit or avoid:

  • saturated fat;
  • trans fat;
  • red meats;
  • foods and beverages high in sugar;
  • foods high in sodium;
  • highly processed foods.

In case of other medical conditions, consult a doctor to create a special multiple sclerosis diet and dietary supplements plan.

Other complementary therapies

The following therapies may help with managing ms symptoms so that patients feel less stressed and more relaxed:

  • tai chi;
